Staying Safe in the Beeyard
Our May guest speaker was our own Mary Cahill-Roberts, Master Beekeeper, who shared an important presentation on Safety in the Beeyard.
Mary reminded us that staying safe starts with being aware of our surroundings—from spiders and tripping hazards to fatigue and working in the heat. She also discussed knowing your limits and making accommodations to help prevent back injuries from heavy lifting and hand injuries from overuse.
Beekeeping can be hard work, and taking care of ourselves is just as important as taking care of our bees. We appreciate Mary bringing awareness to these important safety practices and sharing her knowledge with our group!
